How It Works

formerly GEN2

MODULITH is a storage system you 3D print. Printed cases click together into a unit of drawers and shelves, and you can add to it or rearrange it later.

Start with a Starter Build Design your own

A finished MODULITH tabletop build on a wooden desk: black cases and covers with nine orange drawers in mixed widths and heights.

How it goes together

Shown with the 185 Tabletop Kit.

  1. One printed case alone on a dark grid, an open box lying on its back.

1 Print the cases. Each one is an open box that holds a drawer or a shelf.

  2. Four cases joined two wide and two high, orange QuickLocks seated in the side walls.

2 Click them together with QuickLocks, side by side and stacked. No screws between cases.

  3. The same four cases with covers closed and four orange drawers seated in them.

3 Slide in the drawers, or fit a shelf instead.

  4. The finished unit: gray faceplates with tan handles on all four drawers.

Optional Change the front if you like. Decor drawers take swappable faceplates and handles.

How cases connect

A printed QuickLock joins each case to the next. Slide a case on and it clicks into place. Press the tab and it slides off again, so you can rearrange a build whenever you like.

Animation: a QuickLock drops into the top of a lower case's side wall. The case above slides on from behind, shown in x-ray as it presses the tab 3 mm down, and at full seat the spring snaps the tab up into its keyhole.

Where it lives

The same cases stand on a desk, hang under one, or mount on a wall.

Drawers or open shelves

A Classic drawer pulled part-way out of its case: a single printed piece with a grip moulded into its front. Classic drawer

The grip is printed into the front. Nothing else to add.

A Decor drawer pulled part-way out of its case, its open flat front showing, with a separate black faceplate and handle floating just in front of it. Decor drawer

A flat front for a faceplate and handle, so you can change the look without reprinting the drawer.

An open shelf in a build: parts boxes resting on a white shelf insert with a black front lip, drawers in the rows below. Open shelf

A Shelf Insert takes the place of a drawer. An optional lip along the front keeps things in.

Cases, drawers, shelves and the Planner are free. Some decorative faceplates are paid Club designs.

Sizes

Available in six depths, from shallow parts storage to deeper tool drawers. A Starter Build gives you a ready-to-print starting point, or compare sizes in the Size guide.
